STARTING PAY OF $21 TO $23 PER HOUR BASED ON KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE. WITH OVERTIME AND AUTO ALLOWANCE, THE AVERAGE METER INSTALLER GROSSES OVER $60K THEIR FIRST YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT.

Summary

Under the general direction of the Meter Division Director, the Water Meter Installer removes old residential water meters and installs new electronic water meters according to the specifications of the Municipal contract. Some of these specifications may include the exchange and/or rewiring of water meter transmitters as well. On average 80% – 90% overnight travel to client communities is required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Completes work as assigned by the Lead Water Meter Installer.

  • Lodging overnight in the community of assigned project required 80% – 90% of the time. Based on travel distance to assigned projects, employees are require to stay for 1-week, 2-week, and at times, 1-month intervals.
  • Reports daily at specified time to assigned location to attend team meeting, collect materials needed for each day, and touch base with Lead Installer.
  • Ensures collection of inventory and supplies needed to complete water meter installations each day.
  • Records and provides information to Lead Installers regarding material check out each day.
  • Installs new residential water meters, fittings, and gaskets.
  • Verifies water meters are installed in the correct direction, no leaks are present, the transmitter is activated, and all data is recorded as instructed.
  • Installs new wire per specifications within the project scope or when directed by management.
  • Contacts Lead Installers upon completion of the workday to verify all appointments have been completed.
  • Provides for excellence in internal and external customer service. Create a positive experience for customers through professional and courteous behavior and producing high quality results.
  • Recommends efforts to improve existing processes, quality or client satisfaction.

Skills and Core Competencies

  • Field Service experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing and water distribution systems preferred.
  • Ability to resolve client and water user issues and answer technical questions in a timely and responsive manner as needed.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical concepts pertaining to fluid dynamics preferred.
  • Strong ability to use electronic equipment and application software as required.
  • Ability to create and maintain highest levels of confidentiality when dealing with proprietary information and sensitive situations.
  • Ability to fulfill job responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical ability.
  • Ability to understand and assess from a logical perspective.
  • Ability to interface with clients and employees in a professional manner.
