Hey, everyone! Gary, “the Backflow Nerd,” McLaren here.
Well, here it is: the public water system, backflow prevention, cross connection control. That water system, delivering safe, clean, pristine drinking water, through pipes, through service connections to the free flowing tap.
And we rely, as a society, on individual backflow prevention as well as containment backflow prevention to keep our water safe.
So therefore, public water systems have the duty to look within and verify, first of all, that their own buildings—city Hall, public parks, booster stations, and such—are all properly protected, not just at that service supply, but at downstream interconnections, which are many throughout a facility plumbing.
