Industrial CCC Surveyor – Troy, MI

Summary

Under the general direction of the Industrial Division Operations Director, the Field Services Specialist conducts inspections/surveys at Industrial & Healthcare facilities throughout North America for the purpose of preventing backflow of possible contaminants into the potable water system and/or control of water borne pathogens. This position requires a minimum of 50% overnight travel outside of the local Detroit Metropolitan area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct Cross Connection Control surveys at Industrial & Healthcare facilities.
  • Review & verify accuracy of plant/facility documents of potable water supply/process piping systems and distribution system.
  • Ability to draw/sketch potable water distribution piping system and process system(s).
  • Verify existence and proper installation of backflow prevention assemblies & devices and make recommendations for appropriate backflow prevention methods where appropriate based upon degree of hazard.
  • Review existing Cross Connection Control survey reports and backflow prevention device lists.
  • Evaluate piping identification.
  • Performs Water Quality Sampling & chain of custody documentation.
  • Manages daily client communications, data and reporting.
  • Maintains necessary inspection reports and notices using computerized system.
  • Provide for excellence in internal and external customer service. Create a positive experience for customers through professional and courteous behavior and producing high quality results.

Secondary Functions:

  • Ability to resolve client problems and answer technical questions in a timely and responsive manner as needed.
  • Recommend and lead efforts to improve existing processes, quality or client satisfaction.

Qualifications/Certifications:

  • Working knowledge of plumbing and water distribution systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical concepts pertaining to fluid dynamics.
  • Ability to create and maintain highest levels of confidentiality when dealing with proprietary information and sensitive situations.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Able to stand on feet, bend or stoop for a prolonged period of time. Some of the work is performed outdoors and through inclement weather as necessary.
  • Able to carry out duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Geoscience, Engineering or related field is preferred.

Compensation/Benefits:

  • Starting Salary: $22.00 to $25.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
